In order to have a model city we must first have model citizens to carry out all of the day to day, year in and year out duties and responsibilities of a community. Training a child is the best and only sound way to ensure this will happen. Family, the key element in reaching this plateau has not been nurtured. Politics and many will say has no place in education. I totally disagree with that analogy. Politics are the cornerstone of public education. The key players are Federal, State and Local government.
Education is mandated by law under our political system. The State Department of Education now comes into the main scope and is charged with the task of making sure every child is given equal opportunity under the law, provided by elected and appointed officials to be given a quality education.
The baton has now been passed from politics to the people. Focus on the Children would like to bring the two together by working with the entire community through their input with a vision and commitment to focus on our children.
Teachers have too often been labeled as the reason for failure or success of a student. They are the key players within our community who share that responsibility as well. The best resource any community has is its people.
